The Spanish-Lady & The Vagabonds, comprising of talent of national &
international recognised musicians; continue promoting their specialized
programme of unique novelty & sounding feature.
An overall musical bond exists between the members of the Spanish-Lady &
Vagabonds, drawing on the magical essence found in their rendition of tunes,
recitations and songs all of which portrays a vibrant enthusiasm for the music
and its history. Described as both “soothing & relaxing” their music will
ripple out and touch people in many different ways drawing on a repertoire of
early music from; the Bardic Era (music of the Gaels), the aged itinerant
travelling harpers of the 16th and17th centuries and the livelier dance music of
Ireland/Scotland/England/Wales/Breton and further a field. Song choices include
those found within the travelling community, traditional songs and newly written
material.
Sorely missed World Champion, and seven times Ulster Champion Paul Phillips,
from Downpatrick, county Down, N. Ireland was one of the world's foremost
proponents of this noble art form, and his drumming pedigree was undeniable. He
promoted a style of playing known as 'Top End' an emerging style taking the
instrument to new heights of performance and he was capable of virtuoso level
play. Since winning the All Ireland & World Champion titles, Paul was
recognised globally for his strong passion for music. As well as playing bodhrán
in performance, he had a deep rich soulful voice, which he also drew on from
time to time, delivering recitations to harp accompaniment.
"Music was my first love and it will be my last" --- a very fitting lyric for
this humble man!!
Quoted recently by Eddie Creaney of Irish Music Magazine - "Patricia Daly is
Ireland’s most formidable Harper” and has a spell-binding singing voice
described as pure and gentle by her peers. She holds both International and All
Ireland titles in harp playing and singing to harp accompaniment. Born in Armagh
and now living in Newry Co Down Patricia www.patriciadaly.co.uk has travelled
and performed both at home and outside of Ireland as an acting ambassador for
the music. She continues to be the main instigator of the well-known Edward
Bunting Harp Festival – Armagh; where she plans and implements seminars,
workshops & concerts and is also a popular name tiptoeing through various
radio and television programmes.
Italian born Stefano Uberti, is the youngest member of the group, and is
